What’s it about?
The Maze describes itself as “a music venue … with an eclectic music policy and a good atmosphere”.
What do people say about the Maze?
“Music is the key at Maze with a huge range of bands and DJs to tickle your fancy and fine liquid refreshments to quench your thirst”.
“…laidback atmosphere and great alternative club and live music nights”.
“It’s a cosy music venue, the sort of sweaty little den where live music was made to be played. As well as bands, Maze hosts DJs and stand-up comedy nights”.
“Punks, rockers, folk-y sorts and all-round music fans turn up to mosh about and swill beer. Real-ale fans like it and students come here, too”.
“The fact that it has such diversity and has maintained a traditional feel, while constantly moving with the times, makes this a very special place. And it’s not pretentious”.
“This is one of those places you’ll be glad you found. A comfortable environment with a good mix of people and music, it’s perfect if you’re looking for a venue of substance rather than pretence”.

The Golden Fleece was bought out by the people who run Detonate and given a complete overhaul. It now offers good food (winning the best bar food award at the 2007 Nottingham bar awards) and good drinks, alongside good live entertainment. Their events are usually listed on the Left Lion listings as well as on their MySpace page. read more »

What’s it about?
Nottingham Royal Centre comprises of the Nottingham Royal Concert Hall and Theatre Royal. The Concert Hall used to be the main venue in Nottingham for live music but the Arena has now taken this role. The Concert Hall still has a good selection of acts, including orchestras, comedians and dance acts plus rock bands and solo artistes from all over the world. The Theatre mainly shows plays and ballet.

What’s it about?
The Nottingham Arena doesn’t need much introduction. Hosting up to 10,000 people, it provides live music, international ice shows and sporting events. It’s also home to the Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey Team.
Expect huge names to play here – currently (at time of posting) there’s Lionel Richie, Simply Red, the Progidy (an awesome band to see live), Girls Aloud, Boyzone, Neil Young… and many more. Great sound for really big bands but if you want to see them up close, go early and stay through the support acts to secure your place. read more »

Posted March 25, 2009 – 8:32 pm in: Nottingham Music VenuesThe Approach in Nottingham is owned by the same person that owns Southbank Bar on Trent Bridge (David Willans). It offers good food, drink and a diverse range of entertainment. Many of the acts who play at the Approach also play at the Southbank Bar so it’s worth checking both websites and picking your favourite.
As a live music venue, it’s a bar, with a small raised stage and dance floor. Nottingham bands frequently play here – current regulars include Roy de Wired, Urban Intro, The Joe Strange Band, Kris Ward and the Richie Muir band. The quality of bands is always very good although it’s a great shame the fabulous ‘Fab 4′ no longer play here. read more »

What’s it about?
It’s a great venue, just round the corner from Rock City (near the Theatre Royal) in Nottingham. The venue is pretty small which means when you get an awesome band playing there (like the Bravery, for example) it’s like having your own private gig. read more »
